The Company
The MatOx group of companies comprises MatOx Ltd, located in Oxford, UK and MatOx Oy, located in Helsinki, Finland, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of MatOx Ltd and our base of operations for several collaborative projects we have underway with Finnish research institutes.
The board
The MatOx board brings a wealth of experience and relationships to facilitate the development and growth of the company.
- David Greensmith (Chairman)
- David´s career in the chemical industry spans 28 years and features various positions as CEO, COO or company director with ICI chemicals and polymers, Zeneca Specialities, Avecia and Fujifilm Imaging colorants. He was also the former Chairman of Chemicals Northwest.
- Dr. Jason King (CEO)
- Jason was formerly Business Development Director of hte AG, where he was instrumental in tripling the revenues of the company in the period 2004-2008. Prior to this he was Vice President for Business Development with Avantium Technologies. Both of Jason´s previous roles involved the commercialization of unique methodologies for materials discovery through industrial research collaborations with large, multinational partner companies. Jason holds a PhD in chemistry from the University of Cambridge, UK.
- Dr. Andy Naylor
- Andy was previously Vice President of Physical Sciences at IP Group plc, a company he helped to grow from start-up to a listed market capitalisation of over £300m. Andy´s role at IP Group included identifying valuable intellectual property (IP) within universities, and establishing, building and financing spin-out companies based on that IP. Andy holds a PhD in physics.
- Jari Strandman
- Jari has spent his career in technology commercialisation and is currently managing director of IP Finland Oy. Prior to that he worked with Oxford Ltd. where he was instrumental in setting up and developing several of ´s portfolio companies. He has been a founding director in several companies both in Finland and in UK. Previous to his assignment in Oxford, he held corporate technology management positions at Finnish multi billion euro manufacturing companies, Partek Corp. and Sisu Corp. (both now part of Kone Corporation). He gained extensive experience in working with government funding agencies when he chaired the board of a Tekes (National Technology Agency of Finland) Technology Programme for Finnish manufacturing industry. Jari has significant international experience in managing academic collaborations and operating at the interface between the public and private research sectors. Before his assignment at Sisu, Jari spent three years working for Tekes in Boston, where his assignments included working with MIT´s Industrial Liaisons program, advising Finnish industry in sourcing technology from MIT. Jari has also held management positions at Finn-Aqua, a Finnish supplier of water stills to worldwide pharmaceutical industry.
